Several girls in our 180 group have discovered the importance of spending time alone with God and becoming doers of what He teaches them. They want to offer an opportunity to any girl that wants to join in, to log onto this site each day and learn with them.

Ever wondered what to read in the Bible? Or better yet, what something in the Bible means?
Well join us each day, right here, and we will walk through God's Word together:)

Day #7

Read James 1:17a (a= the first part of the verse).
You might wonder why James calls God the Father of lights.  Well, if you look back to Genesis 1:3, on the 1st day God created a “GOOD” light.  On the 4th day He created the sun, moon, and stars.

So there was a light that seemingly had no source (but God Himself), and there was also the sun, moon, and stars that He created.  When James speaks about God being the Father of Lights, he is speaking about what an amazing creator He is.  (Read Psalm 74:16, 136:7-9).

Read James 1:17b (b= the second part of the verse).
“…with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”
We just learned that God is the creator of light.  But, now James shows us a difference in what He made and who He is.

In this life, night eventually changes to day, and then day to night.  Shadows can be made because of the sun and moon casting light from only one direction.  God is not like this though.  His light is constant, coming at you from all directions, and unchanging.
God is light.  In fact Revelation 22 speaks about heaven not having a sun at all, because God will be all the light we need.

TARGET FOR THE DAY
Today you will have 2 TARGETs.  Pray for your mom and dad.  Be specific in your prayer.  Make a list of some things that your parents do for you, or have done for you, and tell them thank you.

REMEMBER, Click the Memory Verse tab above and start memorizing your verse for this week!
