Begin this time by praying.
Please read James
5:10-11.
As James is encouraging the poor and downcast in their mistreatment… he specifically
challenges them to think of Old Testament heroes as an example of suffering and
patience. He wants them to remember them
and what they went through for GOD’s greater purpose.
These same things can encourage us when we are facing mistreatment.
As we study these heroes of the faith in the next few days, we must keep in
mind that all listed were imperfect people.
In fact, some of them made some seriously stupid choices that were
brought to light all throughout the Bible.
The point of mentioning them, though, is that their faith was TREMENDOUS!! You see, in all that they fought for and
endured out of their love for GOD, they never got to see God’s promises fulfilled.
But this did not matter to them!! They had faith that God’s promises would
be fulfilled even if it was not in their timing. Selfless FAITH!!
Please read Hebrews
11:32-38.
The following are just a few OT examples of the faithful that are mentioned in the
above verses. Their stories, as you will
see, show some tough things they had to face.
Please read by clicking on the verses after each name and read up on
their stories. Please try reading aloud
and take notes in your journal on what they faced and their faithful,
courageous actions:)
Samson- Judges
13-16
Daniel- Daniel
6:1-28
TARGET of
the DAY
Seriously read the above
stories in full and think on them. Do we
face things like this today? If we keep
these stories in mind, can they be encouraging to us? Write on your hand or a piece of paper a picture of one of these
stories so you can remember what the heroes of old faced and maybe your faith will grow.
Deanne and I'm not allowed to right on myself so Ill do it on paper
