Wow! Our last lesson was deep. And still we have
more!!!
I want to start our time this
morning praying a little differently. I
want you to read the words to a wonderful song. As you listen to the words
and sing the lyrics… slow down and place yourself in God’s hands. Sweet girls, He is our great reward. Just knowing Him is all we need.
Click on this song… One Thing Remains.
Thank you Father for your never failing love and never giving up
on us!
Please read James 3:9.
It is completely against God, like spitting in His face, to
bless Him in a worship service and then afterward curse someone made in His
image… and that includes all people,
friend. We are all created in the image
of our God. Check out Genesis
1:26-27.
Why would that be so?
Read
James 3:10-12.
What were the three illustrations that James used to drive
home his point that blessing God and cursing His people cannot be tolerated?
1.
2.
3.
All of these were crazy pictures to bring to
our minds, but it drives the point home all the more. True believers will not produce both
blessings to God and curses to others.
I am not sure about you, but for me, this is one to camp out
on right here. Talk with God about this
and ask Him for a willingness to endure the process of having our tongues
placed under His control. After all, we
have to start somewhere and sometime. Why
not here and now?
TARGET of the DAY
Remember how trials are to help us
grow? Well this process of taming the
tongue is going to have lots of those. No
doubt, we will fail. Failures hurt and
have consequences, but they seal important lessons in us that walking perfectly
could never do. Thank God for even your
failures. None of our mess ups throw His
plan off course.
