Day #16


Read James 1:21

Ever been exercising in this HOT Louisiana summer weather?  It is like a steam bath!  When you are finally done, get in the air condition, and get a drink, what is the first thing you want to do?  SHOWER!!  Get those nasty, smelly, sticky clothes off and get clean.

James 1:21 refers us straight to Colossians 3:5, 8, 9.  Remember those clothes that Paul told us to take off and never where again?

List those clothes:

Read James 1:21 another time.

This verse gives a picture of someone stripping off dirty clothes because of  a desire to have nothing to do with dirt (moral evil) ever again.

Read the following and write what each says in your own words.

Romans 13:12
Ephesians 4:22
Colossians 3:8

Christ will come back.  We don’t know when, but He will.  This should get our attention.  Many of us get lazy when it comes to ridding the sin in our lives.  If He were to come back to earth right now, in your presence, what do you want to be doing?  Living a life that is full of the FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT (Galatians 5:22-23)?  Or wearing clothes out of Colossians 3:5, 8, 9?  Trying to be a "GOOD PERSON" in your own power without spending time with Him?  Or running to Him every day like He is the air you breathe.  The choice is yours.
Note:  He is in our presence every day in every moment and sees everything.  Ouch!

Remember how we learned that our problem is not always a DEVIL that seeks to devour us at a weak moment… most of the time it is our own evil desires that trip us up. Our evil desires take up house in our heart.  Our heart is deceitful above anything else.  Did you hear?  OUR HEART IS DECEITFUL ABOVE ANYTHING ELSE.  It is desperately sick.  We must guard it and hide behind God’s legs like a little child.  You need to be made new, transformed, each day by reading this Bible you have.

When you chase after taking off these rotting clothes in your life… God will make it a reality.

TARGET OF THE DAY
Our main problem is our mouth.  Write on your hand the memory verse for this week.  Say it to yourself over and over.  This verse is not just for in times of anger... it is for anytime.
