Several girls in our 180 group have discovered the importance of spending time alone with God and becoming doers of what He teaches them. They want to offer an opportunity to any girl that wants to join in, to log onto this site each day and learn with them.

Ever wondered what to read in the Bible? Or better yet, what something in the Bible means?
Well join us each day, right here, and we will walk through God's Word together:)

Day #9

BEGIN THIS TIME IN PRAYER.  Take out your notebook and write down what God is teaching you.  You won't want to miss these important lessons.  I have a funny feeling you will be facing some of these issues soon.

Read Colossians 3:5-12 (author- Paul)

Did you know that believers have the power, through Christ alone, to get rid of sin in their life?  However, the words in verse 5, “Put to death,” tell us that WE will have to do some extremely hard things to conquer that sin.  Make no mistake, this is a battle and you do have to take up your sword.

Read Matthew 26:41.  Watchfulness over sin, praying, reading the Bible, and obeying the Bible will be your first steps in fighting.

Today’s verses give us a picture of taking off old clothes and putting on new clothes to help us understand God’s battle plan.

What does Colossians 3:5 tell us to put off?

What does Colossians 3:8 tell us to put off?

Verse 9 tells us something else to throw out too...
What is it?

Where I would love to explain more (it’s the teacher in me)… the GIFT God gave each of us when we accepted Him as the Lord and Savior of our life, the “Holy Spirit,” can do far more than I ever could.  I am praying that He makes us intensely uncomfortable with our sin.

Click on the MEMORY VERSES tab above and test yourself on last week’s memory verse.  And then begin your new verse for this week.

Click on the PRAYER REQUESTS tab above.  Erika, Makinley, and Ally all have prayer requests.  Talk to God about these.

TARGET OF THE DAY
Start asking God to show you your sin.  When He does, it will not be comfortable.  No one likes to be called out on their sin.  But, practice “self-control” and go somewhere privately, get on your knees, and tell God you recognize that you have done something that was not pleasing to Him (confess).  Ask God to show you how to turn away from that sin and stop it in its tracks (repentance).  Walk in self-control and continually talk to God about it when you are tempted by your own evil desires to do it again.  You may fail, but God is forgiving and faithful to complete the work He has started in you.  Hold on tight!!
