Several girls in our 180 group have discovered the importance of spending time alone with God and becoming doers of what He teaches them. They want to offer an opportunity to any girl that wants to join in, to log onto this site each day and learn with them.

Ever wondered what to read in the Bible? Or better yet, what something in the Bible means?
Well join us each day, right here, and we will walk through God's Word together:)

Day #25

Please read 1 Corinthians 5:9-13.

Begin this time talking with God and asking Him to help you understand what you are about to learn.

Make no mistake; I tread on this subject with serious fear and trembling.  At no point do I want to mislead you with my opinion.  So I want to be sure that I deal strictly with God’s word.

Do you remember two days ago when we were talking about the only kind of heart that can take the “speck” out of someone else's eye?  This kind of heart must be BROKEN, HURT, and HUMBLED over their own sin. This heart is loving.  This kind of heart only comes from a seasoned and obedient believer who spends time with God daily and is a doer of the Word.

1 Corinthians 5:9-13 deals with sin and the healing removal of it.  We are not talking about the sin of the outside, lost world.  Rather we are discussing the sin of the person who “says she is a believer” in the chair next to you at church.

Anyone who claims Christianity and is actively and steadily involved in the following sin... you, as an obedient follower of Christ, are not to spend significant time with them, not even eat with them.

-Sexual activity outside of the way God intended it
Examples: Anything sexual outside of marriage; adultery; incest; being a sexual abuser; pornography; prostitution; homosexuality
-Greed (intense and selfish desire for something)
-Idolatry (blind, obsessive devotion to something other than God)
-Reviler (use of abusive language)
-Drunkard (someone who is habitually drunk)
-Swindler (someone who cheats or deceives to take something)

This may sound HaRsH and JuDgMeNtAl.  After all, we just learned that judgment was wrong, right? However, not all judgment is wrong.  This kind is different when done with the correct heart!

Get thisWhen done with an obedient and loving heart, avoiding significant time spent with the person who claims Christianity and is plainly involved in the above sin can bring both healing and protection.  Clearly this avoidance can be done terribly when we are gossiping and giving a furrowed brow- disobedient heart .  But, quite the opposite can happen when done with an obedient humbled heart.  This approach can bring healing for the sinner and protection for you from falling into it yourself.

Read 2 Thessalonians 3:14-15 and write what it says in your journal.

Someone who takes the roll of removing a “speck” or “log” from someone’s eye in order to promote healing from sin must be an obedient follower of Christ in all things; someone who has been doing this for a long time.  Not everyone can be on the HEALING TEAM.  But, what we can do is strive to be in God’s word daily, be a doer of what we learn, and be willing to call sin, SIN!  And avoid contact with it at all costs!

TARGET FOR THE DAY:  Decide to call sin, SIN, today.  No excuses.  If it does not line up with scripture, stop it in it's tracks by talking with God about it.  Be real with Him and tell it like it is.  Confide in a trusted friend today to make arrangements for them to call you out on sin when you are in it.
