Read James 1:19
What does this verse tell us
we should be quick to do?
What should we be slow
to do (2 things)?
What you just wrote in your notes
is not a suggestion for us. This
is MANDATORY behavior, told to us by the Word of Truth… the Bible… which is
Jesus Himself.
The misuse of your tongue can
not only cause anger in those who hear you, but it can also ignite anger within
you as you speak… like fueling a fire!
Read the following verses and
in your own words, write down what you learned from them…
Proverbs 10:19
Proverbs 11:12
Proverbs 15:1
Proverbs 17:28
So…
1. When you talk too much, sin is woven all throughout
your words.
2. If you have good sense you will remain silent rather
than spreading harmful information you might know about someone you are close to.
3. Harsh words cause pain.
4. Wisely chosen words bring about calm interactions with
people rather than provoking anger.
5. Even if you are a fool, if you keep your mouth shut
you will be considered wise.
Not listening + Not zipping your lips = STUPID actions
Read James 1:19 once more.
When Paul says “be slow to anger,” he is not saying that all anger is sinful. The anger that is sinful is the quick-tempered, hot-headed anger of the world. This anger displays a lack of trust in God and lack of love for others.

Please read Ephesians 4:26.
What should we never go to bed
doing?
Again, not all anger is
sin. To be in check on this… we should
never be consumed, or eaten up, with anger.
Nor should our anger ever be carried over to the next day. If you allow yourself to break these two rules
on anger… you are giving the devil the opportunity to have is way with
you. He can’t do anything unless you
allow it.
